Last Cast of the Week: 11/4/2016

Most Fridays on Casting Across are  devoted to other people’s contributions in the fly fishing community. Articles, pictures, social media accounts, videos, podcasts, products, and more will be featured on The Last Cast of the Week.

Today, I’m sharing items from the Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival, Project Healing Waters, & Wingo Belts.

Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival

Save the date! April is still five months away. But once the world starts thawing out, you and your family are going to fill up that calendar quickly. This  show has grown over the past decade to include a great number of vendors and exhibitors. As the name suggests, there is a lot more going on than just fly fishing. This is a great event to bring your spouse and whole family along, as there is definitely a focus on introducing people to the excitement that comes along with angling.

Project Healing Waters – A History Video

You are undoubtedly aware of the organization Project Healing Waters and their work with injured veterans. This short video is so great, in that it gives a history, states purpose, and  puts testimonials all together in such a concise package. With Veteran’s day around the corner, you’re sure to be seeing a lot about PHW  on social media. Take a moment to see what they are doing, and truly appreciate what they accomplish – and more importantly, the men and women they serve.

Wingo Belts

If I am in jeans, I am wearing my Wingo brook trout belt. It is comfortable, distinctive, and just plain cool. The guys that also bring you Cheeky Reels make some spectacular belts that are a definitive  accessory for the fly fisher.  They  have come out with a dozen new wilderness-themed belts that expand their focus far beyond angling. With the holidays less than two months (!!!) away, these are great gifts that are sure to be a hit.
