Last Cast of the Week, 9/9/2016

Most Fridays on Casting Across are  devoted to other people’s contributions in the fly fishing community. Articles, pictures, social media accounts, videos, podcasts, products, and more will be featured on The Last Cast of the Week.

Today, I’m sharing items from 2 Guys and a River, The Fly Rod Shop, & Royal Wulff.

2 Guys and a River –  4 Fly Fishing Retirement Myths

Steve and Dave of 2 Guys and a River make a great podcast. They are my go-to referral to folks getting into fly fishing… or fly fishing podcasts. But they also run a great, robust blog.  In this post, Dave does a great job of reminding folks getting close to retirement age that the best motto might be carpe diem (or, troute diem if that is what you’re into). Subscribe to these guys’ podcast and website, and  stay connected to a steady stream… or river of good content.

The Fly Rod Shop – Vermont Fly Fishing Show

A fly fishing show in September? This weekend, if you’re in New England, you can probably be one of the first people to get to an exposition focusing on the sport this year. Usually these events are scheduled in the off season, but this gives Stowe’s The Fly Rod Shop and the vendors present an opportunity to cater to folks gearing up for the hottest part of the fly fishing casting calendar.  In addition to the clinics and stream tours offered by the shop, so many of the big names are going to be there. If you can pull yourself off the water, stop by what is sure to be a great event.

Royal Wulff – Facebook

You’d think that seeing pictures of coiled fly line or product boxes on social media would get old. You’d be wrong. Royal Wulff puts some great photos of their products on Facebook. Classic Triangle Taper on the banks of a Catskill stream. Bermuda Triangle Taper on the flats. The scenery is picturesque, the line is pretty, but the fact is that this is some great  gear for casting. This is a great company to interact with online, and they are worth the “like.”
