Who doesn’t like the aggressive rises that come with plopping hoppers alongside grassy banks? And what angler is not pleased to match the season long hatch of black ants? Terrestrials are terrific flies. And Terrestrial Fishing, by Ed Koch, is a tremendous book on the subject.

Written back in 1990, Koch accomplishes a few different things at once in the title. He introduces a number of prominent patters. He explains how to tie said flies. He gives the background on their development. And he does all of this in a highly readable, narrative format.

If you fish Pennsylvania or enjoy fishing/tying terrestrials, this book is a must-own.
