The astute reader may have noticed an anomaly this week on Casting Across. None of the content was original. Well, it was original in the sense that it was me. I wrote it. Unless you read all the way down to the postscript on the bottom of each article, you wouldn’t have known that both pieces were being re-purposed.
These two articles were timely excerpts from the catalog of posts that I have written for the Vedavoo Workshop Journal. The Journal is the official blog of Vedavoo Gear, a company that I have referenced often and that you have seen countless times if you follow me on social media.
It has been, and continues to be my privilege to work alongside of the team at Vedavoo to create content that bolsters and compliments excellent gear. I not only believe in the slings, packs, and accessories that get built by hand only about 45 minutes from where I live, I believe in the people building them.
As Casting Across moves into its fourth year, I can honestly say that industry partnerships like this have been one of my favorite parts of writing about the culture and quarry of fly fishing. But underlying every brand, logo, and product is a person or group of people. Those relationships absolutely supersede the stuff and the fish.
Definitely check out the Vedavoo Workshop Journal for more of my writing. I’ve been able to tell stories and explore facets of fly fishing that I hadn’t before. It has a bit of a different spin, but it is still me.
Oh, and definitely buy a Vedavoo pack while you’re at it.
