Most Fridays on Casting Across are devoted to other people’s contributions in the fly fishing community. Articles, pictures, social media accounts, videos, podcasts, products, and more will be featured on The Last Cast of the Week.
Today, I’m sharing items from Risen Fly Fishing, The Fiberglass Manifesto, & 2 Guys and a River.
If you’d like to be featured in the Last Cast of the Week, or have seen something that others might be interested in, use my contact form or shoot me an email (matthew[at]castingacross[dot]com). Also, be sure to subscribe to Casting Across to never miss a post.

Risen Fly – Super Slim Waterproof Silicone Fly Boxes
A good fly box isn’t as easy to find as one might think. I’ve got plenty of boxes, and a few stand above the rest. Risen Fly Fishing is now selling some models that capitalize on the best features across the industry these days. Silicone inserts, a waterproof gasket, and near-indestructible plastic make these slim boxes a no-brainer. Two new slim boxes join a double-sided model, and are priced at under $15. The smaller of the two, which measures at 5.4″ x 3.7″ x 0.6″ with 74 slots, is destined to be my new small-stream box.
The Fiberglass Manifesto – Gift Guide 2017
If you’re reading this, and you’re looking to get something for Christmas 2017, you are going to pay through the nose for shipping or stand in a long line. But guess what: the items that are listed in T.F.M.’s gift guide are a great way to spend your holiday gift cards or cash, too! Cam always does a great job putting a real diverse array of products in these features. Fly fishing and camping, big companies and small businesses all make appearances. I can personally vouch for a handful of these items, and I suggest you browse through the list to see what you might “need.”
2 Guys & a River – A Fly Fisher’s Christmas Wish
If this post from Dave over at 2 Guys & a River doesn’t make you smile, your heart might need to grow three sizes. Interposing his winter angling with a classic Christmas poem is a lot of fun. It also touches on the joy of the holidays, family, and outdoor pursuits. It might not be required reading for your kids on Christmas Eve, but you’ll certainly enjoy it.

Did someone say TFM? Merry Christmas to all and to all a tight line.
Cam was the one to send me your way this year, Howard!
Love that hat.
It is, as they say up here, wicked sharp.
