If you’re not fishing a dry/dropper, you’re missing out on an excellent way to maximize your fish-catching potential.
But there are other “dropper” rigs that work really well in a variety of scenarios in which a dry fly trailed by a nymph just wouldn’t make sense. In this episode I talk about four ways you can utilize two flies to improve your fishing and your catching.
How many of these techniques have you tried?

Hi Matthew,
I enjoyed your most recent podcast on alternative two fly rigs. I may have missed this in your descriptions but did you mention how the dry fly or indicator fly is attached to the leader. Is it attached on a dropper and with the second fly on point or do you fish it with a direct attachment from leader to dry fly with the second fly trailing from the hook bend or hook eye.
Thanks for doing such a great job, I enjoy your podcasts on a regular basis.
Ed, I am sorry that I didn’t mention this!
I almost always tie these rigs like this:
Leader to 1st fly’s eye, tippet to 1st fly’s hook, tippet to 2nd fly.
