Fly Fishing Podcasts Worth Listening To (Updated)

Are you planning on going somewhere this weekend? Somerset, perhaps?  There is absolutely no reason why you can’t be entertained while cruising down the freeway or even sitting in traffic. Three months back, I listed my top five fly fishing podcasts. I wanted to add some new episodes to the podcasts that I’ve previously suggested, as well as add a few new ones to which  I’ve subscribed.

Here are the new episodes that I think you’ll enjoy, Clicking on the picture takes you to the podcast website, and the name of the episode takes you to an iTunes page that highlights my selection. If you want my brief synopsis of the  podcast, click on the link in the paragraph above.

         Anchored with April Vokey

Suggested episode:  Steve Rajeff – Need I Say More?

         Fly Fishing Consultant Podcast

Suggested episode:  Pat Cohen is Super Fly

          The Itinerant Angler Podcast

Suggested episode:  Calling the Hogs with Steve Dally

The Orvis Fly Fishing Guide Podcast

Suggested episode:  Winter Fly Patterns and Trout Tactics with Tim Flagler

Tenkara Cast - a podcast about tenkara fly-fishing          Tenkara Cast

Suggested episode:  Big Rivers, Long Lines

Here are two new suggestions that I’ve been enjoying for a while:

          2 Guys and a River

Steve Mathewson and Dave Goetz  are the kind of guys that you want to fish with. There is a good mix of humor, practical advice, and anecdotal content in a podcast that is the prefect length for a short commute. I’d also highly recommend this to beginners, as they communicate very clearly some common sense facets of fly fishing and angling culture.

Suggested episode:  A Guide to Fishing with a Guide

          Historically Thinking

As I mentioned before, I subscribe to a lot of podcasts that aren’t exclusive to fly fishing. History is another one of my passions, and the conversations that Al Zambone facilitates on this program are great to listen to. I was pleasantly surprised when two of my interests intersected in one of Historically Thinking’s episodes!

Suggested episode:  Dickerson and O’Hara, Fished from the Archive

Give these folks a listen, subscribe, and rate them on iTunes. They’ve done some good work, and I’m sure they’d appreciate it.
